where do you blog? [specify blog host]? got a Friendster blog but I haven't updated since my last entry which was posted the same time as it was created. I'm sticking with blogspot.
why did you choose that host?
i started as an outright idiot in blogging and it just happened that blogger was the first host that appeared when you type "blog" in Google. Try mo.
how often do you blog?
when i feel like it. around four times a week on an average.
when did you start blogging?
on a sluggish and boring weekday, early February, 2005.
how did you find out about blogging? saw Ala Paredes's blog (who doesn't?) and I researched what this blog was all about. Initially, after learning what web logs are, I wanted to start one just to keep track of the progress I am making with my hobby projects which is miniature painting (Warhammer 40,000). But apparently, it still ended up as a personal one.
what makes blogging different from a written journal?
definitely, the convenience of having not to literary carry/worry/keep a blog always will outweigh every advantages a written journal has. syempre, bukod sa magka-iba ang spelling. =)
what time do you blog and why?
mostly during my breaktime here at work. that's midnight for you normal Earthlings.
how many blogmates do you have?
whose blogs do you visit everytime you are online?
blogs ni Kassy, Tin, Justice League (tropa blog namin), and Jill (Barenaked). Links are at my blog. Syempre.
name the top 5 blogs you've read and what makes them so different if not special? 5.
4. Kassy - she has two blogs actually and i like her inspirational thoughts (not to mention that she manages a band. galing.)
3. Jill (Barenaked) - astig. enough said.
2. Bianca Gonzalez - she's such a sweetheart. on and off cam.
1. VJ Ala - well, the princess of Philippine blog. what else?
what topics, subjects, issues do you like to blog about?
anything that comes to mind basically. so far i have entries about environmental protection, religious and inspirational viewpoints, responsible sex advocacies, and "free the political prisoners" propagandisms.
which site[s] do you consider most helpful to
bloggers?
unkymoods. it will help bloggers keep track of their father's everyday moodswings.
aside from the tagboard, what other things does your blog have? [e.g hit counter, horoscopes. Etc]
aside from the entries too, ayt? mayrong tagatingin kung ilan ang tambay, may listahan kung sino ang mga tambay na ito, may maliit na sulok para sa ritrato ko, may isang gilid para sa mga ritrato ng halo-halo, may sisidlan ng mga paborito kong bisitahing website, tsaka may anik anik sa tuktok na umiibo-ibo.
what makes you read someone else's blog? kapag astig yung entry tsaka sapat para bigyang atensyon.
what do you do to attract other bloggers to read your blog?
i don't intend to "attract" bloggers at the most basic meaning of the word but I'm at least keeping the blog "cooL" so as to reflect my personality and my attitude that I want to project on my entries. Thus, I can give it justice when I say, "my blog is me" and I do my blog layout as to more reflect myself.
am I making sense or sleep-deprivation's kicking me up again? =D
where do you blog? [specify blog host]?
i've been blogging since 2002, and i've tried xanga, blogspot and livejournal. my current bloghost is blogdrive. i think it has the most idiot-friendly set-up. ;D
why did you choose that host?
i think it's perfect for me, kasi i know a little HTML coding, pero i'm no genius at it. the features are also easier to handle, plus madaling mag edit ng entry.
how often do you blog? Everytime i have something to say. so that's everyday. haha. i think i average around 2 posts a day.
when did you start blogging? my blogdrive account i started in feb 2004, but i've been blogging since 2002.
how did you find out about blogging?
my high school batch (UPIS 2002) had a batch blog. i think i was the only member there who posted everyday! kaya ayun, i decided i wanted my own blog.
what makes blogging different from a written journal? one word: privacy. i think my blog is a big part of me because in person, i'm not as expressive, so i let it all out in my blog. besides, my handwriting is not-so-good, so blogging is better for me.
oh, and i tend to lose my diaries, and we all no you can't lose a blog. hahaha.
what time do you blog and why?
late at night or at the wee hours of the morning. it's quieter, and i like to recount the events that took place during the day, so it's convenient.
how many blogmates do you have?
a lot. and i mean A LOT. i had to make my blog links a drop down menu so as to save space.
name the top 5 blogs you've read and what makes them
so different if not special?
top five, my grand buddy bam's blog. apart from his ramblings, he has a lot of features on his sidebar, including "ano itetch," a little game where people try to guess what a picture is.
top four, i used to regularly visit the first last comic standing winner's blog. his name is dat phan and he is vietnamese and he is so funny! its fun to read his account of his tours and stuff.
top three, would be jalski's blog. jalski's a good friend of mine, who just happens to be the bassist of SUGARFREE. too bad he stopped blogging around two months ago.
top two would be the blog of my thesis proposal adviser, sir danilo arao.
and of course, i'd have to say the top one blog i've read is that of my favorite journalism professor, luis teodoro. you just cannot not love him.
what topics, subjects, issues do you like to blog
about?
my experiences, my thoughts and my (eeep!) crushes. i used to write about what i think about Philippine politics, but nakakawalang gana eh.
which site[s] do you consider most helpful to
bloggers? statcounter. lets you know who and why they visit your blog.
aside from the tagboard, what other things does your
blog have? [e.g hit counter, horoscopes. Etc]
hit counter, stat counter, an explanation of my layout, my profile, birthdays, links, countowns, an online counter, a YM button, and my personal favorite, a disclaimer on all of my posts.
what makes you read someone else's blog?
if i can relate to the blogger and if i know him/her. the writing style also helps.
what do you do to attract other bloggers to read your
blog?
nothing really. but i find that putting lyrics of songs ups my hit counter. and putting up the gig skeds of bands also help, but the one thing that attracts readers, and most of the time, bashers too, are my posts on gig-kwentos. i dunno, i guess people either don't believe me, or get too jealous when i post that i know these rockstars that they hopelessly worhip. as one friend of mine said to me, "your famous friends often get you in trouble now, don't they?"
why did you choose that host?
Blogspot? Recommended ng kaibigan ko, Blogdrive? Para kasing andaling butingtingin.
how often do you blog?
when did you start blogging? September 2004 ata.
how did you find out about blogging?
what makes blogging different from a written journal?
Journal – ginagamit yan simula pa ng panahon ng lola ng lola mo. Hoy Gising! Moderno na tau ngayon. Tsaka sa blogging kasi, you get to meet many pipol, parang prenster he he he. Palink? He he he..
what time do you blog and why?
Depende sa oras, basta pag may nangyari sa akin or sa paligid ko, and I have time, I put it in writing, minsan nga pag alang internet isinusulat ko na lang sa upuan, table or sa pader ng opis or sa kahit anong bagay na mahawakan tas transfer ko na lang sa blog later he he he.
how many blogmates do you have? More than 1, plano kong paabutin ng milyon eh.. add nyo ko ha.. he he he..
whose blogs do you visit everytime you are online? Lahat ng nasa links ko as well yung mga nag-iiwan ng tag at comment. Minsan naman bloghopping.
name the top 5 blogs you've read and what makes them so different if not special?
Special mention ko si Batjay (forgot the link, check nyo na lang sa blog ko he he he). Hakshuli, he’s a good writer. Tsaka informative kasi minsan blog niya. But, eversince I use blogdrive, dumami na yung madalas ko basahin, lahat sila nasa tagboard at links ko.
what topics, subjects, issues do you like to blog about?
Everything. Anything.
which site[s] do you consider most helpful to bloggers?
1. Itong blog na to, you can make some suggestions or any violent reactions sa comments window or sa tagboard. Ginawa ito to have more blog buddies and to feature your blogs.
2. Google.com – search engine, everything you need, anything you want.
aside from the tagboard, what other things does you blog have? [e.g hit counter, horoscopes. Etc]
Hit counter lang. Di kasi ako madunong sa HTML eh, nagpapaturo nga lang ako ke Feature #1 he he he.
what makes you read someone else's blog?
He he he.
what do you do to attract other bloggers to read your blog?
Blog hop. Indi kasi pedeng magpa-cute sa blog kasi di ka nila nakikita, kaya bloghopping lang he he he. Tsaka, be realistic, I usually write whatever comes to my mind kaya beware mga pipol who are below my age, kasi baka di nyo matake ang blog ko…he he he.
where do you blog? [specify blog host] My blog host is blogdrive. I'm trying to blog in friendster, but somehow I have trouble posting, so I
post in my blogdrive account. I tried blogspot once, but blogdrive seems more suitable.
why did you choose that host?
It gives a little flexibility for my blogging needs. I know a little HTML coding, so I really value that
allowance. In xanga, for example, you can just link to people who have xanga accounts. In blogdrive, I can put in a little bit extra of almost anything I want there.
how often do you blog? Every time I can and when I'm online --- that's almost everyday.
when did you start blogging? It says in my blog the first post was May 2004, so I'm relatively new.
how did you find out about blogging?
I think I saw one of my orgmate's friendster post about blogging. And so I checked it out and lo and
behold I was hooked! Well actually, it started out as somewhere where I can recover some of my writings, but I got hooked anyway, so yeah, smooth as.
what makes blogging different from a written journal?
Of course blogging is a form of written journal. The difference is that anyone with a computer and search capability can find out what you posted about. So it's not as private as you'd like. That's why I usually don't post about anything I consider private business. For all my blogging, I'm still a very private person.
Another difference with the written journal is you have the extra advantage afforded by technology. For example, we can't print every one of our pictures as much as we'd want to, but with blogs, you can take snapshots from your digital camera and you can easily
upload them. Blogging is also instant publication of your thoughts, so while it may pose a problem about accuracy in reporting events, blogging just gives us a widespread burst of personal expression.
Blogging is multi-media, hence you have a wider spectrum of your senses fulfilled. Thus you have the written text enhanced by images and sound.
what time do you blog and why? Usually at night. Self-explanatory, I suppose, so won't elaborate why.
how many blogmates do you have?
Wouldn't know. I have people who are just bloghopping occasionally.
whose blogs do you visit everytime you are online?
Besides mine, blogs of people like Mong, Vida, and all those I have links with. I also blog-hop. I also like Noam Chomsky's blog site.
name the top 5 blogs you've read and what makes them
so different if not special? Can't say, it depends what posts are there, but I read my posts a couple of times. It's different, eh, so for example you want to read funny posts, you can check out Teacher Kai's. If you want thorough analysis of events in the Philippines, you can check out Danny Arao's or Luis Teodoro's, as well as the website bulatlat.com. If you want cultural criticism, you can check out Mykel Andrada's blog. If you want to know about the policies of the US empire, you can check out
Chomsky's.
what topics, subjects, issues do you like to blog
about? Some of my thoughts and experiences. I also post on different issues coz not many people do so. I mean these are the things that affect the world, and a simple look at them could be a catalyst for changing them. I don't see much point, though, in talking about marginal stuff the mainstream media talk about, or that advertisers spend millions to popularize, but
sometimes there are convergences. I try not to anyway.
When I say marginal I mean those they try to distract us with to skid questioning the system of things. So for example, Britney Spears' new boob job should be marginal to the issue of the WTO's effect on Philippine Agriculture. There's just such an asymmetry on what people get to talk about and the events that affect their social dispositions, but these are nevertheless things they can change if the conduits for information would just focus on them.
So one more candle in the darkness I hope inspires others to see the need for more light.
which site[s] do you consider most helpful to
bloggers?
Hmmm, in general I guess the blog host FAQ's and features.
aside from the tagboard, what other things does your
blog have? [e.g hit counter, horoscopes. Etc] Oh, I have a "Picture of the Week," a slight blurb, changing text colours, "quote of the day," this
counter which features the flags of countries that visited my site, background and downloadable music, as well as my links.
what makes you read someone else's blog?
Hmmm, sometimes it's the topic, if it's political or something interesting. Sometimes it's the blogger, you know, coz you expect s/he writes really well.
Reading other people's blogs also enriches your view of them, you learn something new everyday, so right on, it's fun, even if u care nil about what they're talking about. It just widens your own horizon, I guess.
what do you do to attract other bloggers to read your
blog?
I suppose blog-hopping has that effect. But just posting what I like to post should be enough. It's not
like I blog to attract other bloggers. I want to contribute in the transformation of the world, so
blogging helps in that way.
i initially used www.my-diary.org. simple layout, nothing much. all i want was to have an online diary that time. then i found out about blogspot. so, i decided to switch because of its more advanced feature.
every time i got internet connection and something to post. well... that's around 3 to 5 posts per day during weekdays.
when did you start blogging?
February 2004.
how did you find out about blogging?
the idea of having an online diary got me when i was in a foreign assignment in kuwait, no one recommended me a site. i just searched on google and found that my-diary.org. i decided to switch when i saw penoy's blog (www.penoycentral.com), my classmate when i was in college. he obviously host his own blog (it is already down now), so, i searched for a free blog host and google gave me the blogspot.
what makes blogging different from a written journal?
blogging makes you connected to the whole world wide web. written journal is limited to anyone who'll get a hold of your journal.. do i make sense? hehehe
what time do you blog and why?
at no particular time. when an idea pops up, i immediately type it on a notepad and post it when the opportunity comes.
how many blogmates do you have? more than 1, less than a million. don't know the exact numbers eh. i don't have time to count. hehe
whose blogs do you visit everytime you are online? all blog links on my sidebar, i do a round up everytime i'm online.
name the top 5 blogs you've read and what makes them so different if not special?
i have no favorites eh... all of them are equal.
what topics, subjects, issues do you like to blog about?
my life as it goes on... past experiences...the people and places around me... a little bit of politics... tv commercials... news... anything, sometimes, showbiz... hehehe. oftentimes, i make my post as funny as possible, but honest and no pretentions.
which site[s] do you consider most helpful to bloggers?
the blog host itself and it's FAQ. i found www.hello.com good if you want to post pictures.
aside from the tagboard, what other things does you blog have? [e.g hit counter, horoscopes. Etc]
just the hit counter.
what makes you read someone else's blog?
my eyes... hehe. seriously, i just do the rounds on my blog links, and read all the new posts.
what do you do to attract other bloggers to read your blog?
blog hopping... and posting something new regularly. you cannot maintain your blog readers if you don't update regularly.
i use blogdrive. but well, one sec. actually my very first blog was in blurty. but i was too much of a neophyte and was a much more private person that i did not even think of sharing that blog to anyone. later on i decided to explore the blogworld and ended up in blogdrive. can't complain, though.
why did you choose that host?
looking back, hmm. i don't know really. ha ha. but i did try using blogger but found it too difficult to manage. i knew very little of html then and i was merely relying on my luck, hoping that i could make my blog err.. presentable. i found blogdrive easier to manage so i stuck to it.
how often do you blog?
i'd say everyday, every chance i get.
when did you start blogging?
some two years ago.
how did you find out about blogging?
i once had a chatmate who showed me his weblog. and as a young girl i always had a diary. so the idea of blogging appealed to me. so i started one [blurty].
what makes blogging different from a written journal?
i don't know. i think because you can actually share it with friends. and there is a lot of interaction going on. i don't know. ha ha
what time do you blog and why?
as i have said, every chance i get. but well, mostly at night until hubby calls me. ha ha
how many blogmates do you have?
ok, so you want me to count? are you sure? but my blog is closed! ok one sec. ..47, there. i hope you're happy :D
whose blogs do you visit everytime you are online?
mika's, andre's, starrfish's, ecks', amgine's, basilisk's, jezz's, mostly all my friends. i try to leave msgs in their tagboards all the time.
name the top 5 blogs you’ve read and what makes them so different if not special?
chona- absolutely hilarious, too bad the site's not updated
mr.d- funny, contemporary
mel- cool place
noringai- hands down to a great writer
what topics, subjects, issues do you like to blog about?
i write about myself. i'm one big narcissistic b....baby ha ha. once in a while i post some of my writings. no biggie.
which site[s] do you consider most helpful to bloggers? hmmmm, ahhhh. google?!?! he he
aside from the tagboard, what other things does you blog have? [e.g hit counter, horoscopes. Etc]
the counter thingee, which by the way just disappeared. ha ha. the referrer, and the neo counter that shows which countries your visitors are from.
what makes you read someone else's blog?
if the entries are nice and funny, i read them. i don't like to read about rantings and heartbreaks. well once in a while i do, but i was never a fan of those things.
what do you do to attract other bloggers to read your blog?
we have gained a lot of blogfriends and built a small community here. aside from the entries written in their blogs, i think it would be fun to have a blog that features bloggers. like giving them their err...our fair share of that 15-minute fame.
in a few days, [bear with me, i need a few days, hehe] i hope to complete this blog and have it ready for us to use.
expect some invites from me. and if you don't get one, don't sulk... just let me know. oki.
